This unique optical property means they always produce a virtual, upright, and diminished image, granting them an incredibly wide field of view.  Popular in 15th century Europe. blown glass convex mirror - called oeil de sorcière or Witch's Eye in France—were popular luxury items. With 15th-century technology, it was easier to manufacture a curved, blown-glass mirror than a perfectly flat one.
