Succulent DIY

I’ve been trying out these mini cheesecake desserts by President’s Choice:) I love the presentation of them, and have accumulated quite a few of the little glass ramekins that they come in. I’ve been waiting to see how I can reuse them – one can only have so many tea light holders.

At the same time, I’ve been noticing that my window sills are getting cluttered with all the cuttings and off shoots that I’ve been getting from my succulents.  I’ve got so many little cups and pots acting as incubators for baby plants that I didn’t have the heart to throw out.  Maybe if I prettied them up a bit, I can give them away :) Here’s what I did, with these items I found around the house.

Scissors, twine, wooden skewer, brown paper label, pen and of course, the glass ramekin.

I wrapped the ramekin with twine, leaving a long section at the start, and again at the end…

…then tied those ends together in a small bow.

I cut a triangular flag out of the brown paper label and wrote the recipient’s name on it.

I then inserted the wooden skewer, and cut it to length…

filled the pot with soil…

Voila!  All that’s left to do is to add a little sprout, and let someone else enjoy their very own plant.  What a great excuse to eat another cheesecake :)
